"With a few more days to go before my move, I don’t think I will get the opportunity to drop in and personally THANK YOU for everything you have done for me. I still recall that first physical therapy session—the crippling pain I felt in my back as I walked in, and the sensation of relief I felt as I walked out, even after an hour. I knew I was in good hands and that I would soon smile again. Needless to say that the sessions helped ease away the pain, but also helped me better understand my own body and how I should focus on my posture. ;) I love the “kinesio tap”! Pilates was also a discovery, once I completed my physical therapy with Pilates People. The Friday morning ladies were a pleasure to be with."

-M. Britton, La Jolla, CA

"Yesterday was the first day I FINALLY got my butt to the gym to ride a bike...and today is the first day I'm actually PAIN FREE!!!  I could kiss that woman!!! THANK YOU, Christine!!"

--E. Mendoza, San Diego, CA

"You are never too old… When I began a workout program for the first time in my life at age 65, I was hoping to slow some of the problems of again. After doing Pilates for several years, I have accomplished that, and much more. I now feel much stronger, more agile, and my balance has improved. I actually feel younger and healthier than I did 4 years ago, thanks to Pilates People!I"

B. Roach, Rancho Santa Fe, CA

"I started Pilates People when I was still post-partum. I was in bad shape. Now, I feel great! I’m losing weight—I lost 10 pounds! I feel energized, no pain—seriously! I wish I could come here every day!"

-A. Escudero (PT & Pilates Client), San Diego, CA

"40 lashes with a wet noodle, that’s what I deserve…for having procrastinated for far too long to tell everyone who reads this: O.K. You can stop looking. You found it—here!

Pilates? Yes! Top-of-the-line equipment and top-of-the-line instructors/physical therapists. And this studio is not just for “hard bodies”, but for people of ALL ages—children to elderly—and where I expect to be in my early 100’s. Dave and Doreen Hall, both certified Pilates instructors and absolute professionals, are extremely particular about instructors and physical therapists with whom they associate. None but The Best.

I was Dave’s first client, almost 17 years ago! I had multiple issues requiring physical therapy: I was in a terrible bike accident as a child, and also had scoliosis, which contributed significantly to my joint issues. I had endured traditional physical therapy over the years, but was never particularly impressed, nor did I improve as I had hoped. I was introduced to Dave at a local gym soon after he graduated and was just starting to teach Pilates. I knew right away that I’d found a winner instructor, and I’ve been with Dave ever since. I have seen how Dave and Doreen have evolved their business into the most wonderful “Pilates People” studio you can find. "

-M. Wosk, San Diego, CA

"I never enjoyed working out until I started doing Pilates at Pilates People with Dave Hall. The workouts are always fun and challenging, and not to mention that I've picked up more speed on my fastball and we have fixed some old nagging injuries. I feel better now than I have in years!"

-Tracy Johnson, San Diego, CA

"I am in my fourth year as a client of Pilates People in Del Mar. They are wonderful people who clarified and helped medically-related problems for me that my own doctors could not figure out. And they elevated my own sense of well-being. I cannot overstate my enthusiastic support for their program and people."

-Dr. Paul Schimmel PhD, La Jolla, CA

"At Pilates People, you are able to establish a relationship with a unique staff that works skillfully with you to achieve your goals. As a beginner, it is such a pleasure to be encouraged, challenged and appreciated. Pilates has improved my posture, flexibility and strength without building bulk. I have seen a difference in my energy level, endurance and muscle definition. Pilates People is exceptional!"

-Colleen Watkins, San Diego, CA

"Doing Pilates is like scratching a whole body itch."

-Dianne Dammeyer, La Jolla, CA

"After years of weight training and riding hunters, I discovered that no one addressed the issue of my core strength until I trained with Pilates People. Now my riding is more stable and balanced allowing my legs to do their job of propelling and guiding "Giorgio Armani" around a hunter course."

-Roxanna Foxx, Rancho Santa Fe, CA

Few elements are as crucial to the golf swing as having a strong and flexible core. I have worked with Doreen Hall for over six years, and Pilates keeps me in the shape I need to stay healthy and competitive. Now that I am pregnant, core fitness is even more important. Doreen's creativity in the studio has helped me maintain my sense of balance, as well as my sense of humor, through the many changes of my body."

-Tracey Balsdon, La Jolla, CA

I started going to Pilates People three years ago because I had back and neck pain. I have to say Pilates has truly helped me. I feel wonderful. I enjoy working out at the studio very much. Aside from giving me a higher level of strength and stability, it has improved my posture tremendously. I would recommend Pilates People to anyone not only because of their amazing trainers, but also because of the attention and kindness I, as a client, receive. "

-Rebeca Besquin, Carmel Valley, CA

For eight years, I have been a slave to chronic lower back pain. I tried everything short of surgery to alleviate my pain (conventional drugs, chiropractic, walking, yoga, stress awareness, orthopedics, and thousands of dollars) In February of 2005, my chiropractor suggested I try a place called Pilates People which he said he was hearing good results from patients. I started immediately working one-on-one with Dave. Honestly, I was a bad pupil. I chose the quickest and simplest routine while at home and limped miserably along during the first month. It wasn’t that I wasn’t disciplined; I had just been disappointed too many times for too many years to believe that this was going to work. I found some relief in the first month, but also a wealth of information on the logistics of my body which kept my interest high. Week after week, Dave was relentless in making me learn the technique properly. Since I travel a lot, I sought other Pilates studios so that I could keep up my routine. I was shocked to find out how little information and instruction is given at other places. I could easily see how people were merely performing the motions without the knowledge and understanding of the core principles. I actually felt sorry for the participants. When I returned to Pilates People, I gained a new respect for the effort and keen attention to my condition. It’s been nine months since I began my therapy at Pilates People and I cannot begin to explain the power and confidence I feel about my body again. I know that 'I' control how I am going to feel on any given day. I am not at the mercy of my back pain anymore. The routine that I have been mastering has given me my life back. I am 52 years old and I went from a steady downward spiral to gaining my happy life back."

-Paula Engel, Rancho Santa, Fe, CA

"Pilates People offers customized programs, which may include individual Pilates instruction or small groups, as well as Physical Therapy. I have been going to Pilates People for over 2 years, and I am very pleased with the results. My posture has improved, flexibility increased, range of motion enlarged, and my balance has become better. And importantly, my time there is not drudgery."

-R. Mulford, Del Mar, CA

"Suzanne is a knowledgeable, dynamic, and inspiring Pilates instructor with true compassion for her students.  She is very dedicated and always impresses me with her knowledge of the human body.  She encourages and challenges me to push beyond my comfort zone, but still working within my capabilities.  Her instruction is FLAWLESS.  The results and gains in my fitness level have exceeded my expectations.  At 43 years old, I'm in the best shape of my life.  Because of her, I feel great, look taller and leaner, and have transformed my posture.  She is a gift and I'm grateful to have found her!"

--J. Rodriguez, San Diego, CA

Pilates San Diego is a body conditioning routine that builds flexibility, muscle strength (making muscles lean and elongated, not “bulking up”), and endurance in the legs, abdominals, arms, his, and back.  It puts emphasis on spinal and pelvic alignment, breathing, and developing a strong core or center, and improving coordination and balance. Pilates San Diego system allows for different exercises to be modified in range of difficulty, from beginner to advanced.  Clients can proceed at their individual pace, and intensity can be increased over time as the body conditions and adapts to the exercises.
