Pilates San Diego

Pilates is a body conditioning routine that builds flexibility, muscle strength (making muscles lean and elongated, not “bulking up”), and endurance in the legs, abdominals, arms, his, and back.  It puts emphasis on spinal and pelvic alignment, breathing, and developing a strong core or center, and improving coordination and balance. Pilates' system allows for different exercises to be modified in range of difficulty, from beginner to advanced.  Clients can proceed at their individual pace, and intensity can be increased over time as the body conditions and adapts to the exercises.

Our studio is equipped with state-of-the-art Balanced Body equipment, including reformers, cadillacs, barrels, wunda chairs, and an array of smaller equipment and props.  Our equipment provides a more varied, challenging strength and endurance workout, providing visible results sooner than many other forms of exercise.  
 
How do I get started with Pilates San Diego?

(Appointments and reservations are available Monday through Saturday, morning, afternoon, and evening.  Our instructors have varied and flexible schedules to accommodate everyone.)

Our studio offers 3 different options for:  (1) private instruction, (2) duets/trios, and (3) group classes.  

Private Instruction

Private Pilates San Diego sessions are recommended for those who are new, in order to learn the principles of Pilates and to ensure proper form and safety.  We encourage beginners to do at least 2-3 private sessions before deciding whether to continue with private instruction or move on to a duet/trio, or group class.  Beginners are always surprised at the focus required to coordinate breathing, pelvic floor control, and body alignment. Private sessions are also recommended for those with any orthopedic limitations.  Private sessions with one of our physical therapists are also available.  Private sessions are by appointment. 

Duet/Trio

Duet sessions are with 2 clients, and 1 instructor.  Trio sessions are with 3 clients and 1 instructor.  If you cannot get a friend or two to join you, we can match you up with clients also looking for a duet or trio.  The attention you receive will be higher than a group class, but you will still get the benefit of working out with a friend, and cost savings compared with private sessions.  Duet/Trio sessions are by appointment.

This is a Pilates San Diego class with 3 to 5 participants, and requires you to reserve your spot in advance, either online or by phone.  Classes fill quickly.  We offer the following group classes:  Core Circuit, Reformer all levels, Fundamentals Pilates taught by a Physical Therapist, and Teen Core.
